For Local Homeless Response Agencies

Resources

Many partners and their staff were affected by the storm and are currently without power and/or managing flood/water damage. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to support you, your agency, or your clients during this time, and we will help where we can.

  • The Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA) recently shared guidance for their Housing Tax Credit (HTC) program participants/properties. Learn more about the TDHCA HTC program here.

How partners can help

  • Please contact Chris Laugelli at claugelli@homelesshouston.org if you are an organization with staff that can provide support during this time. Staff from the homelessness response system are being asked to support one another as we coordinate homeless response efforts during this time.

  • Please contact Fryda Ochoa at fochoa@homelesshouston.org if you would like the CFTH to include information about your agency's operations and available services on the Hurricane Beryl Resource webpage.

  • Please contact Jessalyn DiManno at jdimanno@homelesshouston.org if you are able to help provide transportation for people experiencing homelessness to cooling centers and/or shelters.

I would like to help.

CFTH serves as an administrative agency, providing leadership and coordination to local direct service providers. Please consider supporting our work to help us respond to crises and solve homelessness in our community.

In the wake of Hurricane Beryl, people experiencing homelessness in Houston are in severe need. For those wanting to offer aid, CFTH is encouraging monetary donations that would allow us to purchase essential supplies or in-kind donations via our Amazon Wishlist. These items will be distributed to unsheltered families and individuals who have been impacted.

Hurricane Beryl Q&A

What is the homeless response system doing to prepare for Hurricane Beryl?

  • CFTH is working with local government agencies, including the City of Houston and Harris County, as well as partner agencies of The Way Home Continuum of Care to ensure that people living unsheltered are informed about and protected from the storm.
  • Throughout the year, we also encourage our outreach teams and housing case managers to register their clients in the State of Texas Emergency Assistance Registry (STEAR). STEAR is a free registry that helps emergency responders to keep track of people in their geographic area who might need extra assistance in an emergency.
  • Anyone in need of shelter should contact 3-1-1.
