Reflecting on Progress, Looking to the Future

Over the past year, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside a passionate team, dedicated partners, and generous donors, all focused on a shared goal: making homelessness rare, brief, and non-recurring in our community. At CFTH, we are committed to addressing homelessness through a data-driven, strategic, and collaborative approach. Thanks to this, we’ve made significant strides and continue to expand our efforts to ensure that we can serve everyone experiencing homelessness in our region.

However, as we look ahead, we recognize that our work is far from done. For me, the new year is always a chance for renewal—a moment to reflect on what we’ve accomplished and to look ahead to what’s possible. The first year in any new role is full of “firsts.” I’ve learned a great deal, and I recognize that everyone who worked alongside me has experienced those same firsts. That kind of change is not always easy, but it is necessary for growth. The work we do is no different.

As we move forward, one of our key initiatives this year will be enhancing coordination with our partners to create new "front doors" to the system. By streamlining access to shelter, housing, and services, we aim to make it faster and easier for individuals to transition from crisis to stability. But our work won’t stop at addressing immediate needs. While our data has helped us design programs that meet the urgent needs of those experiencing homelessness, our ultimate goal is to prevent homelessness before it begins. This means strengthening cross-system partnerships to create long-term solutions that tackle the root causes of homelessness.

This year, more than ever, is about strategy and planning. When I began this role, I set out with a clear goal: securing sustainable funding for the system. I was driven by that perspective and worked closely with others to get everyone on the same page. Today, I’m proud of the momentum we’ve built in this area, and I’m confident that securing sources of funding outside of federal support is within reach.

Looking ahead, I am excited about the progress we can make together. We’re focusing on strengthening our advocacy for sustainable funding, improving data collection, and refining our strategies to maximize impact. As always, our approach remains pragmatic—we know what works, and we are committed to expanding those solutions to ensure long-term success.

Ending homelessness requires a collective effort. By working together—across sectors, agencies, and communities—we can create a future where everyone has access to safe, stable housing. This year will undoubtedly bring new challenges, but it will also bring opportunities for us to grow, adapt, and make an even greater difference in the lives of those we serve.

Every one of us has a role in the work we do. We simply choose to show up differently. I hope you will join me on this journey, and I am incredibly grateful to everyone who shows up to bring this work to life. Together, we will ensure that our efforts are not only impactful but also sustainable.

Thank you for your dedication and commitment to this vital work. I am truly honored to lead CFTH and look forward to all that we will accomplish together in the year ahead.
