Harris County Commissioners Court has declared 2011 as the year to unite homeless organizations in finding permanent solutions to homelessness. At its June 7, 2011 meeting, the court named the Coalition as the local authority on homelessness and acknowledged the community priorities–coordinated intake, targeted prevention, rapid rehousing, and performance improvement–that will fundamentally transform the local response to homelessness and help stakeholders strategically address this continuing crisis. A huge Coalition thanks to David Benson, David Turkel, and Daphne Lamelle for all their support and guidance.
