City’s new homeless czar optimistic about efforts

“Mayor Annise Parker last week appointed the city’s first special assistant to the mayor for homeless initiatives, Mandy Chapman Semple. A Montana native who has worked in Houston since 2010, Semple is affiliated with the Corporation for Supportive Housing, a national housing nonprofit. She is charged with developing strategies, in coordination with local partners, to end chronic homelessness in Houston.”
