- KTUU Alaska | 12/07/2023 - ‘Next step’ initiative underway as Anchorage leaders look to housing as the solution for homelessness
“A community conversation took place at the Anchorage Public Library as leaders from Anchorage and Houston, Texas, shared insight on systems and solutions that have effectively worked in other communities’ homelessness response.
“The Anchorage Coalition to End Homelessness hosted the conversation and said there are 2,478 permanent housing units needed to fill Anchorage’s housing gap.”

“Houston’s homelessness strategy revolves around housing. When the Houston Chronicle looked into evictions of people who had gained permanent supportive housing, it found that the issue is not tracked in the Houston region.
“Some data, however, does provide context about what happens after people in the Houston region get their housing.”
